These areas are usually laid at the sametime and promptly afford a place upon which teamsterscan turn out in avoiding teams and cars, especiallywhen the latter are operating on single track againsttraffic. To assist in the protection of new pavements underthese conditions a page has been taken from the policedepartment traffic signs, which have the respect ofteamsters. New Pavement signs, as shown in theaccompanying figure, have been put into service withsuch good results, after a seasons trial, that their useis to be continued. These signs are designed to beplaced about 30 ft. apart in the devil strip. They will
