HUGHi ROSSITER, settled in Dorchester, Mass.,where he had the grant of a small lot as early as removed to Taunton in 1637. His name appears in the list of those of Cohannet,that have taken the oath of fidelity, but not on the militarylist of 1643. BRADFORD [son of Will-iam and Alice (Hanson) Bradford], was born in Austerfield,England, and was baptized in St. Helens Church, Auster-field, on March 19, 1589. He married (first), in England,Dorothy May. He inherited a yoemans freehold. He joined the Separatist Church, established in 1606,by William Brewster at Scrooby Manor, and by so doingincurred the ill feeling and hostility of his relatives andneighbors. The company emigrated to Holland and madean agreement with a Dutch captain to embark at Boston,England, but the skipper betrayed them to the authorities,and some were imprisoned, others released. St. Helens Church, Austerfield, was built more than seven hundred yearsago by John de Builli, who was one of William the Conquerors most trustedfollowers. It consists of a nave and chancel divided
