This is the 1350BC archeology site at the Colossi of Memnon of Ancient Egypt, not far from the River Nile and the city of Luxor previously known as Thebes. The statues are of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, there are two smaller statues at his feet, one being his mother, the other his wife. Initially built to guard the entrance to the entrance to Amenotep's temple against evil they were also seen to guard the west bank of the Nile. The Colossi have suffered from major earthquake damage but after 3500 years remain standing.
