The Agla is an acronym, derived from the Hebrew phase, Atha gibor leolam Adonai [Thous art mighty for ever, O Lord]. The sacred name of God (Jehovah) is broken into five constituents in the right hand figure, as Te tra grama ton is the Greek name for the four-letter Hebrew name of God, Jehovah. This means that the entire figure is a play on the numbers 1 (the circle), the number 2 (the two triangles from which the Seal of Solomon is constructed), the number 3 (the constituent triangles), the number 4 (the AGLA and the Tetragrammaton proper), the number 5 [the division of the Tetragrammaton) and the number 6 (in the six-pointed star). It is this numerology which probably explains why there is a horizontal line in the bottom of the figure, for this offers seven (the number 7) straight lines in the make up of the figure.
