There areinnumerable lovely private cottages in theneighborhood of Oakland owned by resi- dents of distant cities, notably Cincinnati,Baltimore and Washington. These cot-tages are occupied every summer, and theirowners claim the climate is the most de-lightful to be found. Va., is an attractivemountain resort ten miles from Oaklandand twelve miles from Deer Park, overroads which are unsurpassed for smooth-ness and picturesque scenery. At theWest Virginia line this road merges intothe old northwestern turnpike which passes Brookside on its way to resort derives its name from thepropinquity of the Ryon Trout River, atributary of the Youghiogheny is reached by the Baltimore &Ohio Railroad to either Deer Park, Oaklandor Mountain Lake Park.
