EDINBURG, Texas (Oct. 7, 2015) Queens, native, Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Handling 2nd Class Elizabeth Tototzintle, a recruiter with Navy Recruiting District San Antonio, speaks to young Latinas and their mothers about life in the Navy during Latina Day held at the 2015 Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology (HESTEC) Week on the campus of the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Latina Day provided Latino officer and enlisted Sailors the direct opportunity to provide young Latinas and their mothers with grassroots perspectives on opportunities, benefits, and careers in the Navy. The Sailors served as role models to inspire the young women to pursue a career in in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). HESTEC Week is an educational conference that features events geared towards promoting STEM education to people of all ages and backgrounds.
