DIAGNOSING CREUTZFELDT JAKOB DIS


Diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in a virology laboratory. On the right, amongst the 48 samples submitted to the prion test, only one was positive (lower left part of the film). Conventional Western blot (the reference technique shown on the left). The two bands characteristic of the prion protein were present. The positive samples were taken from an animal with bovine spongiform encephalitis.
