The needles of Chamonix are a group of mainly rocky peaks part of the Mont-Blanc. Dominating the valley of Chamonix, they represent one of the most famous landscapes of French Alps. Peaks are extending from the Mer de Glace, in the north to the Bossons glacier in the south. Their altitude varies between 3000 and 4000 meters. The needles are covered by multiple routes of varying difficulty. The end of the xx th century there has been an intensive development of rock climbing high on the slopes of Chamonix and the Envers des Aiguilles.
