There is a hole in the flange ofthe hood by which they can lie reached from the the hole 6 there is a releasing trigger that, when given aquarter turn, presses upon the tails of the pawls liftingthe points from their engagement with the ratchet, andpermitting the hood with the rollers to be turned hackcoUnter-clockwise and thus release the work. The rollers are Syi in. long and \s in. in diameter, andare carried on trunnions at each end which are l/\ in. indiameter and i in. long. Of course these trunnions servemerely to hold the rollers in alincment when they are notin use, and have no load to sustain. The whole load iscarried by the rollers pressing directly upon their sup-ports, the three cams of the chucking CHUCKING HUB t-OOfJNG DOC CAM WASHER FORROLLER BEARING Details of Gary-Moss Expanding Mandrel ELEVATINQ HINCTO SUIT BUSHINO and rests upon the upper collar of which the B formsa part. The lower plate E for holding the roller carriers isset up from the bottom ami is held in place by three■4 in. countersunk machine screws. At the tup. tin; roller carriers are fastened to the coverut the hood in the same way that they are fastened tothe ring at the bottom. The hood itself is a steel casting and a mere shell3/32 in. thick with a cup shaped flange or boss at thebottom, and openings at the side for the rollers. Thisboss is bored nut with a recess at 4 both for the purposeof lightening it and for receiving the locking dogs orretaining pawls that serve to hold the rollers out againstthe work and prevent slipping when they are once inplace.
