A German breastplate from a suit of armour, circa 1510, presumably Nuremberg. Spherical shaped, bright iron breastplate with riveted movable gussets and a slightly curved, thick upper flange. Skirt of three lames, two brass buckles for shoulder straps. The straps for the tassets damaged and incomplete. Length 46 cm. A breastplate from a suit of armor in the style of the consignment of 4,000 or 5,000 breast plates from Nuremberg for Emperor Maximilian I's Italian campaign of 1508. Cf. Rudolf H.
