Display inside the Château de Sedan in the French Ardennes, depicting the marriage of Charlotte de la Marck to Henri de la Tour d'Auvergne. The wedding in 1591, arranged by King Henri IV, marked a turning point in the history of the principality: the end of the La Marck dynasty, and the advent of La Tour d'Auvergne. With the death of Charlotte in 1594, Henri de la Tour declared himself Prince of Sedan, via a secretly kept will.
