B.—There is no doubt that the trou-ble with the young plants has comefrom the preponderance of animalfertilizer contained in the soil. Whilehorse manure is the equal of anyother fertilizer, it has in this casebeen used in too large a proportion,and if one-fifth of the compost hadbeen employed instead of two-thirdsthe results would no doubt have beenquite satisfactory.
