Uur River, Mongolia


Rock mounds built by local shaman mark a scared spot above the Uur River in northern Mongolia. The Dayan Derkh Monastery rebuilt in 2006 sits below in the riverside meadow. The Uur River is home to the endangered taimen, the world's largest trout, and is a tributary of Lake Baikal in Russia.
