Lord Baden-Powell, 1911, (1944). Portrait of Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell (1857-1941), British soldier and founder of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides. Baden-Powell won fame during the 2nd Boer War (1899-1902) as the defender of Mafeking which was under siege from 1899 until it was relieved by Field Marshal Roberts on 19 May 1900.
