An adult Humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) fluking in the waters around the coast of Alaska

An adult Humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) in the waters around the coast of Alaska. Despite pressure on their feeding grounds by commercial fishing the Humpback whale is one of the more common whales that visitors will see in the waters around the coast of Alaska. Some migrate each winter down to Hawaii to breed while others stay in Alaska's colder but more nutritious waters.
