In July, 1857, the first settler took up his land-claim in the Wea town-ship ; his name was George Wickline, who by industry and perseverancebecame the owner of the northwest and the southwest quarters ofsection 30, range 25, township 15. In the year 1859, Anthony Vohs and William Schwartz came to Weaand took claims in section 30. William Schwartz began with 40 acresbut in after years became one of the wealthy men of Miami County.
