Eather light brown ; dorsal line pale, dark-edged; subdorsal line, a triple lateral line, and the subspiracular line pale, the last greyish ochreous ; head with dark reticulations. Food-plant, Phragmites. 8-9. The larva hides by day in the old reed-stems. 2013. Meliana longipennis, n. sp. (Plate XCV. fig. 18.) $ . Head and thorax pale reddish brown ; abdomen wliitish, dorsally suffused with fuscous, ventrally tinged with rufous. Fore wing ochreous browm, tinged with rufous except towards costa, and irrorated with fuscous, especially on inner and terminal areas ; the veins with fine pale streaks and on terminal half defined by fine brown streaks, the interspaces also streaked with brown ; some slight points on termen. Hind wing white, the terminal area sutlused with reddish brown from apex to vein 2; the underside.
