Cup-shapedhollows are made in the surface of the stone, these areoften surrounded with concentric rings, and from thecup one or more radial lines are drawn to a point out-side the circumference of the rings. Occasionally asystem of cups are joined by these lines, but more fre-quently they end a little way outside the widest of therings. These strange markings are found in Great Britain and Ireland, in Brittany, and at various places in 67 MYTHS OF THE CELTIC RACE India, where they are called mahadeos} I have alsofound a curious example—for such it appears to be—inDupaix* Monuments of New Spain.
