Magnolia stellata is a slow-growing medium-sized deciduous shrub of broadly rounded habit originating in Japan . Leaves narrowly obovate. Buds are furry and develop into white flowers with a pinkish hint and striation towards the base of the opening bloom. The bloom is up to 10cm in width, with up to 18 narrowly oblong, spreading white tepals, in early spring.
