June 1845 - Rioters (mostly unemployed and their families) attack the workhouse at Stockport , handing stones & molotov cocktails (Bottles filled with burnable liquids) to their children. The riots were caused by new poor laws, dis-satisfaction by workers of constant squalid conditions, long hours of work , pay cuts and for the new Chartist cause calling for worker rights and the right to vote. It was part of similar riots that took place in northefrn industrial regions
