Reverend Rob Cotton Arnold Street Memorial Service for murdered jeweller At 12 30 today the memorial to murdered shopkeeper Marian Bates shot last week in the small town of Arnold just outside Nottingham was held in the street outside Arnold Methodist Church She was shot when two armed raiders entered her jewellers shop Her husband was hit over the head with a crowbar Victor Bates attended his wife s service flanked by his daughters Xanthe and Niomi The Open air memorial service outside Arnold Methodist Church was attended by thousands of local people At 12 58 exactly a week after she was killed there was a two minute silence and the whole town and many other Nott s citizens come out of their shops to pay their respects Businesses all over the county observed the silence Reverend Chris Rattenbury led the service Local Gospel singer Freddie Kofi sings Come by Here Reverend Rob Cotton called on the government to do more to tackle gun crime
