Gentemann Bros, say their retail business has been steadily growing and the last year was one of the best in their career. The business was started by their father, C. F. W. Gentemann, over thirty years ago and the business has been conducted on the same site, although on a constantly expanding scale, ever since. The present members of the firm are Philip and Herman A. Gentemann, who are assisted in the business by their sister, Miss Minnie Gentemann. Their plant at 636 South Eleventh street recently has been re- modeled and is now one of the best and most completely equipped in this sec- tion of the country. In the year 1901 the two brothers • assumed charge of the plant and had it thoroughly remodeled. The present plant is 80x200. The houses are steam heated. The firm not only does a good wholesale trade, but an extensive retail business. The wholesale end covers a radius of 150 miles. ELMIBA, N. Y. The United States Cut Flower Co. is breaking ground for the addition to be built by King Construction Co. Eichard King, the superintendent, says the returns for stock this season have been far above the average, which vouches for quality. Easter stock is promising; a large batch of lilies are just right. The method of transplanting carnations from the cut- ting bed to the bench and replanting outdoors has proved such a success that the entire stock will be treated thus this season. Mr. King expects to at- tend the National Flower Show with a special exhibit of Eichmond roses. H. N. Hoffman says it has been a banner season for his nursery business. While the price of fruits
