Console table (one of a pair), ca. 1735–40, French, Carved and gilded oak, with top of rouge royal marble, 31 5/8 × 54 1/2 × 20 3/4 in. ( × × cm), Woodwork-Furniture, Made by François Roumier, these two console tables can be dated to around 1740. Sculpteur ordinaire du roi in 1721, Roumier was famous for this type of furniture and published a number of books such as the Livre de plusieurs Desseins de Pieds de Tables en Consoles, which was published after his death in 1750
