The Hofvijver, The Hague, The Netherlands. Sunday 27th June 2021. The Rainbow and LGBTI flag now flies at the Hofvijver. D66 leader Sigrid Kaag raised the Rainbow and LGBTI flag this afternoon, two hours before The Netherlands played in the Hungarian capital Budapest. The Dutch team lost against the Czech Republic 0-2. The protest was against the anti-gay law the Hungarian government is to introduce; this would ban books, film and other sexual related media that is not heterosexual. Advertisements in which transsexuality or homosexuality is considered normal may not be shown. The European Commission is taking action against Hungary to stop the country from enacting an anti-LGBTI law. The commission cannot proceed with criminal proceedings until the law comes into effect.
