This species is found in several countries of Europe. In GreatBritain it seems to be a local and rather uncommon kind. Da Costasays though found in many parts of England, is not met with inany plenty, but is scarce. I have found them on the rocks, at andnear Matlock, in Derbyshire, about Bath, in Somersetshire, also onrocks; in Surrey, Wiltshire, and Hampshire, in the moss on thebodies of large trees, and in woods. Dr. Lister found them on thegrass in Lincolnshire; Mr. Petiver, in hedges, between Charltonand Woolwich, in Kent*; Mr. Morton, in hedge-bottoms, in OaklyParva, in Northamptonshire; and Mr. Wallis, on the rocks in Nor-thumberland : but they are not common or frequent any 56. * Not uncommon last summer in the woods of Kent. 0.
