160805-N-TH437-051 WASHINGTON (Aug. 5, 2016) - Having endured the elements for more than 20 years, conservators with the Warren Lasch Conservation Center (WLCC) clear away dirt around the 6-inch, 30 caliber gun from the Navy battleship Maine, , on the Washington Navy Yard. The Maine attained infamy when it was sunk in Havana Harbor, Cuba, being the catalyst of the Spanish-American War in 1898.
