IN SOUTHERN LOUISIANA. Will you give me a little advice about the piping of my greenhouse, for hot water! The house is 24x100 and twelve feet to the ridge, with two feet of glass in the south side. The walls are four feet high and double boarded. Will two 2-inch Hows and six 2-inch returns be enough to heat the house to 70 degrees, with an outside temperature of 10 de- grees above zero! Or would it be better to use two 2-inch flows and ten li4-inch pipes, distributed equally on both sides of the house? What would you sug- gest? Please state, also, what size of boiler would be necessary. M. S. It will be well to have a boiler with a rating of 1,200 feet or slightly more to heat the greenhouse. The number of both flows and returns suggested is al- together too small. Either use five 2- inch flows, or preferably three 2i^-inch, and twelve 2-inch returns. QBEENHOUSES AND RESIDENCE. Kindly give us information as to the size of chimney that is necessary for a thirty horse-power, horizontal boiler, with grates forty-two inches square. We had to clean the tubes every four hours in cloudy weather and once a day in windy weather last winter, and we be- lieved this was due to the smallness of the chimney, which is eighteen feet high and fourteen inches in diameter.
