220808-N-CE703-0145 (August 8, 2022) Sailors assigned to the Independence-class Littoral Combat Ship USS Oakland (LCS 24) conduct a rifle salute in honor of all service members who gave their lives during the Guadalcanal Campaign of World War II, while sailing with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer JS Kirisame (DD-104) in the Solomon Sea, Aug. 8. Oakland is conducting routine operations in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
