On the night of April 11, Miss Shober noticedbridge No. 605 on the Berlin Branch afire, andawakened her brothers, Galen and Jackson,who succeeded in extinguishing it before muchdamage was done. Galen flagged train No. 32and also notified the operator at Garrett, Pa.,who had all trains stopped. The prompt action of Miss Shober and herbrothers is very commendable and highlyappreciated by the officials of our division, asVeil as by the Miss Elta L. The crew of this trainremoved the rock and thus avoided what mighthave proved a bad accident. Our superinten-dent, Mr. Brady, wrote Mr. Timple a niceletter, commending him on the prompt actiontaken and interest shown. Pittsburgh Division About p. m. March 28, while engine 4502,westbound, was pulling over Fifth Avenue atMcKeesport, some unknown person cut train,closing the angle cock. Extra 4502 pulled thehead end of the train down No. 3 freight track,not knowing that the rear end was cut off. Inthe meantime brakeman T. M. Skillen, ofDemmler Yard, who happened to be on hand, butnot on duty at the time, notified operator at MKTower of what had happened, and took a mes-sage and delivered it to the conductor of trainNo. 65,
