SAN DIEGO (Jan 22, 2018) Rear Adm. Cedric E. Pringle, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group THREE, converses with Capt. Hill, commanding officer of the future San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Portland (LPD 27), upon arrival to its new homeport of San Diego. Portland, named after the largest city in Oregon, is the 11th San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship and is the third ship to bear the name ‘USS Portland.’ The ship is scheduled to be ceremoniously commissioned Apr. 21 in Portland, Ore.
