Engraving depicting a scene from "Tom Brown's Schooldays": Tom, Captain of the team, in conversation with Arthur and one of the masters during the annual Marylebone cricket match at Rugby. Tom Brown's Schooldays is set in the 1830s at Rugby School, a public school for boys, and was mostly based on the author's experiences at the school. Written by Thomas Hughes (1822-1896) an English lawyer, judge, politician and author. Illustrated by Arthur Hughes (1832-1915) an English painter and illustrator associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Dated 19th century
