Head of a young Nile crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus). This is one of the largest reptiles, reaching a length of over six metres. It inhabits tropical and subtropical Africa near swamps, lakes and rivers. The Nile crocodile feeds on large animals such as antelope and gazelles, as well as smaller prey such as water birds, fish and small mammals. Photographed in Madagascar.
