Bleeding colon. Endoscope view of a bleeding angiodysplasia lesion on a patient's colon (large intestine) wall. Angiodysplasia is a condition in which blood vessels become distorted and thin- walled, causing leakage of blood. This is a common cause of bleeding into the intestines in the elderly. Symptoms include blood in the faeces and, in severe cases, anaemia. The bleeding can be stopped using laser treatment.
