Ancient Saharan arrowheads. Man holding 6000 to 8000 year-old stone arrowheads found in the Ennedi Plateau of the Sahara Desert, Chad. Arrowheads like these are found in large quantities across the Sahara and were used by ancient humans to hunt animals for food. They, are evidence of early human and animal activity in the region, showing that the Sahara was not always such an inhospitable place.
