Juno, Alaska, USA - 23 May 2010; no people in view. Mendenhall Glacier, also known as Sitaantaagu, is located in Mendenhall Valley, about 12 miles from Juneau, Alaska. The glacier, lake and surrounding area is protected as part Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area, designated unit of the Tongass National Forest. Like glaciers all over the world, it is retreating fast because of climate change and global warming. Soon all this will be gone forever.
