The 19th century Reigate Fort on the North Downs south of London.
Reigate Fort was originally built in 1898 as part of the London Defence Scheme to protect London from French attack at a time when the naval strength was thought to be inadequate. It was decommissioned in 1906 and designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument in 1972.
