Mary's Sweet Emporium, Warwick, Warwickshire, UK. 7th June 2017. Warwick sweet shop predicts general election results with sweetometer.

Mary's Sweet Emporium, Warwick, Warwickshire, UK. 7th June 2017. After official pollsters got the Brexit and Donald Trump's win wrong, could a sweet shop in Warwick be the best place to predict the UK's 2017 general election result? Customers to Mary's Sweet Emporium have been asked to choose the coloured sweets that best represent the way they intend to vote. The sweets are collected in different jars and have been added up at the end of each day. After using the same method to predict Brexit and the Conservatives' 2015 victory, the shop owner has promised to eat his hat if he gets the election outcome wrong. The result of tomorrow’s General Election is too close to call according to pollster Nigel Ackroyd who runs the sweet shop in Warwick although it seems Labour and the Greens are slightly ahead. Nigel ran the same poll in 2015, getting the results correct down to the final vote share of each party, and also claimed his poll to correctly predict the result of the EU Referendum at 52 per cent to leave to 48 per cent to remain.
