Ex Sermide sugar factory
The sugar factory was born in the 1920s thanks to the Sermide spa of the Genoese Schiaffino family. With those of Mantua and Ostiglia, he gave work to about 2,000 people each sugar season. In addition to the industrial buildings, it also has residences for the guardian and the management. In particular, the "Villa dei directori", built in the 1930s to a design by the architect Renzo Zavanella, has remained one of the rare examples of architectural rationalism today protected by the Superintendency restriction imposed in 2013.
