Scales, about 140. Body elongate, cylindrical, tail compressed. Origin of dorsal much nearer to base of caudul than tip of snout, slightly in advance of theroot of the ventrals. Caudal rather short, tij) broadly rounded: caudal peduncle deep, its depth in head. Sides, cheeks, operdes, and maxillary barbels finely speckled with black; base of the caudal above with no black spot. Length 132 mm. This loach does not agree with anj^ specimen of M. m. hainan we have examined. It may prove to be an intermediate between that and M. Nichols (1925, Amcr. Mus. Novit., No. 169, p. 4).
