Gull Point, a protected habitat for endangered piping plovers, sits at the end of the Presque Isle peninsula in Erie, Pennsylvania, April 5, 2022. To control erosion of the peninsula’s shoreline, and to induce the continued growth of Gull Point, the Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District nourishes the beach here with new sand each year.
