Gray, withalternate J. A. Gray. Mr. Crooks father, aruling elder in the First PresbyterianChurch, Spartanburg, S. C, was invited toserve with the commission in an unofficialcapacity. There were seventeen ministers and thir-teen ruling elders in attendance. This wasthe first meeting of Presbytery at Bethelsince 1938. BALDWIN—An Appreciation— When Walter P. Baldwin came to Bre-vard, and the pastorate of the Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church twoyears ago, we wonder if he consciouslytook Pauls motto for his own: I am de-termined not to know anything among yousave Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Forin all his preaching—and living—that hasbeen his theme, Christ and His forgivinglove. Such sermons leave their mark on acongregation. Among the outstanding characteristicsare the sincerity and integrity of his be-liefs, and the fearless consistency in livingup to his convictions. He has known nocreed, nor race, nor social strata—but sasgiven himself unstintingly to all who need-ed him. He has been a good pastor, alwayshelpful and sympathetic, particularly sowhenever sorrow has touched the hearts ofhis people. During his pastorate the church mem-bership has grown from 250 to 284 not-withstanding the removal of
