We have seen only one liv- ing specimen from Antioquia, and it had the distinctive bright yellow venter and flank pattern of H. carnifex from Ecua- dor. Although a gap of nearly 700 km separates the Ecuadorian localities from those in Colombia, we anticipate that the species will be discovered along the in- tervening Pacific slopes of the Cordillera Occidental in Colombia. Until series of fresh, well-preserved specimens and recordings of mating calls are available from localities in northern Colombia, we can say only that living frogs from the widely separated regions have the same.
