The Shankaracharya temple located on the top of a hill right next to the Dal Lake in Srinagar in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India. The temple is very old, with no accurate identifiction of when the temple was constructed, but it is supposed to be more than 2000 years old. It is also famous because the temple was visited by Adi Shankara who was looked to revitalize Hinduism over India and ever since then, the temple and the hill has been named after him. It is one of the prime tourist attractions in the city of Srinagar. The temple is built on a high octagonal plinth with a flight of steps. You get a great view of the city and the lake from the height of the temple.
