Airmet radio service. Met Office broadcaster reading out a weather forecast for the Airmet radio service using an hourly chart. The Met Office, the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service, had been providing weather reports by radio since 1922. The Airmet radio service, aimed initially at aviators, was broadcast from the Met Office's Dunstable location. It started soon after the Second World War, but was discontinued in 1950.
