BEIJING CHINA MAY 2006 Bar Jing, 20, stands on the street about to go back to work after a check up at the Yaliang Medicine Aesthetic and Plastic Hospital Beijing. A week before a plastic bridge had been inserted through her left nostril to raise the shape of her nose. This is a common proceedure in China. A student nurse, she says that magazine cover girls are pretty and have been an inflence in deciding to go ahead with plastic surgery. She will have her nosrils narrowed in a subsequent operation.
