It became the custom later to erect a townhouse along side of the meeting house. The style ofarchitecture was much the same in the case of bothbuildings, except for the steeple which adorned thehouse of worship. In the case of most of the meeting houses erectedin the first decades of the last century the main portionof the building, like the older houses of worship, was 8.
