Main staircase in the Hotel International in Dejvice district in Prague, Czech Republic. The hotel inspired by Soviet Stalinist architecture was designed by Czech architect František Jeřábek and built in 1952-1956. The staircase railing was designed and manufactured by Czech artist Jan Nušl. According to the local legend, Czechoslovak army generals should guard on each step of the staircase as a guard of honour when Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin goes up the staircase during his official visit to Czechoslovakia. This is why the staircase has 22 steps, one step for two of 44 Czechoslovak
