Those who thusaddressed the vast audience on the first night of the celebration were: A. Schieren, Editor Bernard Peters, Rev. Father Sylvester Malone,Rev. Dr. John F. Carson, ex-Mayor David A. Boody, Rev. Dr. Gregg, RabbiF. De Sol. Mendes, Rev. Dr. Louis Albert Banks, Hon. John Winslow, F. Roche, and Rev. A. C. Dixon. Great enthusiasm pervaded the meeting when the Rev. Sylvester Malone, A VENERABLE CATHOLIC PRIEST of great learning and eloquence, took the platform and delivered a brief began by saying that this was probably the first occasion in America wherea Catholic priest had appeared on a platform in a Protestant church to honora Protestant minister.
