Gular used in attempts to intimidate and overturn a rival for a female. Madagascar. Critically Endangered. Rarest tortoise species in the world. Permanent 'nick' identification mark, on nearest scute, of carapace, help reduce chances of theft as well as for individual animal recordings. Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust Breeding Centre, alongside Ankarafantsika National Park. Endemic. Madagascar.
