Pheasant and Grasses, late 1600s-early 1700s. Attributed to Ogata Kōrin (Japanese, 1658-1716). Hanging scroll; ink and color on paper; overall: x cm (53 x 17 1/8 in.); painting only: x cm (24 1/8 x 14 1/2 in.). Korin was a founder of the Rimpa (decorative) school of painting and was a keen observer of nature. The pheasant is often associated with autumn.
